40 Burning Hot

★★★★☆ 4.4 Editor rating

40 Burning Hot is one of those games that looks simple for about thirty seconds and then quietly eats your afternoon. You tap and swap glowing fruit and star symbols across a grid, trying to line up matches before a warmth meter climbs too high. The whole thing runs on a rhythm — the faster you clear, the more the board rewards you with little chain effects.

Controls are pure touch, and they're well tuned. Taps register exactly where you expect, and there's no awkward drag lag even when the board gets busy. We liked that the difficulty ramps gently; the first levels teach you the symbols, and by the time things speed up you already know the patterns. It's the kind of pacing that makes you say 'one more round' without noticing you said it five times.

On the practical side, it's friendly to your phone. Heat stays low, the battery hit is modest, and it runs fine on older hardware. The art style is loud in a good way, all glowing oranges and golds, but you can dim the effects in settings if it's too much at night.
